Madame Blavatsky and Colonel Olcott, cofounders of the Theosophical Society, were instrumental in introducing knowledge of Tibet and the Tibetan Buddhist mysteries to the West. Their connection was with Tsongkhapa, founder of the Yellow School. In honor of the hundredth anniversary of Colonel Olcott’s passing the Theosophical Society in America organized a group tour of Tibet which took place during May and June of 2007. This pilgrimage tour explores the key religious sites of Tibet, beginning with the monasteries in and around Tsetang. Moving westward, the group travels through Gyantse on their way to the full moon celebration of Saga Dawa at Tashi Lhunpo Monastery in Shigatse. Finally, they finish in Lhasa where they visit and meditate in many of the power places blessed by Tsongkhapa and the various Dalai Lamas. This tour was led by Glenn Mullin, an internationally known scholar, Tibetologist, meditation teacher, and translator of books on Tibetan Buddhism. Mr. Mullin lived in the Himalayas for twelve years, studying under many of Tibet’s greatest spiritual masters, including the present Dalai Lama. 2008. 59 minutes.
