The complexities of H. P. Blavatsky (HPB) are revealed through her voluminous correspondence and the views her friends, enemies, and bystanders had of her. This peek at the "sphinx" behind the veil of Isis will look at her complex personality, her accomplishments, and her influence in the world. Blavatsky was one of the most notable women of the nineteenth century, whose writings and personality influenced the twentieth century in many ways. This recording was made in a classroom setting at the Olcott School of Theosophy in October 2001. The material is divided into five parts and organized chronologically: 1) Blavatsky’s early life in Russia and world travels; 2) HPB in America; 3) HPB in India; 4) life in Europe and England; and 5) her influence and impact on society and human culture.
