Unity of Myth(CD)

Myth is the means by which man gives expression to his intuitive feelings about his origins, his being, and his unfulfilled potentialities. In other words, myth is the story of mankind. But many scholars of myth maintain that the old myths are no longer effective for today’s modern world, that a new mythic structure is needed for the twenty-first century. In this lecture, Dr. Hoeller gives a sweeping psycho-historical survey of major mythic developments, taken from Hindu mythology, the worldview of the ancient Greeks, and the ideas of the European Renaissance, finally leaving us with a few suggestions as to what the new myth may look like. 1989. 67 minutes.
