Awakening of Truth(CD)

We live in a world in which there are manifold examples of great beauty. But we are generally oblivious to it, instead being absorbed in the mundane movements within our own mind. Why are we not awake to the extraordinary beauty around us? We may be physically awake, but are we fully awake? N. Sri Ram says that we are, in a sense, operating in a dream state even though we may be physically awake. Indian psychology postulates four states of consciousness: the waking state, the dreaming state, the state of deep sleep, and the fourth, called turiya. Awakening to Truth is not just a matter of intellectual comprehension only. It is a matter of deep inner perception involving all aspects of our being. This lecture was given at the 77th Annual Convention of the Theosophical Society in America. 1963. 77 minutes.
