This recording is not a simple "how to" presentation on meditation, but rather a philosophical dialogue on the necessity of maintaining a practice of meditation in the modern world. According to the Hindu mythology of world cycles, we are now in the fourth Yuga, which is known as the Kali Yuga. It is intructive to note that the Kali Yuga is traditionally symbolized by the color black. This is a period of time when there is great stress and tension in the world. How can we cope with these debilitating forces? How can we live a life that is calm, brotherly, non-acquisitive, and esthetically satisfying in a culture that is filled with aggressiveness, violence, ugliness, and hate? The speaker suggests that it is of paramount importance to engage in the regular practice of meditation in order to avoid the destructive forces of the Kali Yuga and to live a life in harmony with our spiritual ideals. 1984. 43 minutes.
