The man or woman who truly awakes to the impermanence and contradictions of the world is really awake for the first time. Those who cannot see the Self in daily life, who are absorbed by things of the world, whose thoughts area engaged with petty gossip and public opinion, whose desires are of a material and empirical nature—such people have yet to experience that spiritual awakening to the reality of the Self.
