Darkness, light, and journeys are ordinary and routine experiences of our everyday physical world. But they are also extraordinary and powerful symbols of our archetypal inner world. Our outer world is inextricably intertwined with our inner archetypal world. Because the theme of this Congress combines those three experiences and symbols, it states the most basic message of Theosophy, which is that life is a journey from outer darkness to inner light. This talk explores the archetypal meaning of those three terms, and applies that meaning to our life in the ordinary physical world of Theosophical living. John Algeo gave this keynote address on the opening night of the Inter-American Congress, which was held at the national center of the Theosophical Society in America in Wheaton, Illinois. This DVD contains both English and Spanish sound tracks. 2008. 22 minutes.
