Dr A. Kannan obtained a doctorate in Chemistry from Bombay University and specialized in the chemistry of foods, drugs and water. He did his postdoctoral research at the University of Minnesota at St Paul in Dairy Chemistry. Subsequently, he worked as a Public Analyst at the National Dairy Institute, Bangalore, and at the Delhi Municipal Corporation. In December 1964, Dr Kannan moved with his family to the Theosophical Society, Adyar. Soon after, he started the Theosophy Science study group and was also its covener. He was the editor of, Theosophy and Science, as well as the journal Holistic Science. He is the author of several books, Impact of Theosophy and Science, The One Life and Functional Forms. He has contributed several articles in various Theosophical journals. As a National Lecturer of the Theosophical Society, Dr Kannan traveled throughout India for over fifty years, conducting study classes on Theosophy all over Karnataka as well as in Delhi and Bhowali. Dr Kannan was the General Secretary of the Indian Section of the Theosophical Society for a year. He also attended to the work of the Esoteric School ot Theosophy and Co-Freemasonry.
