William J. Ross was born and educated in England. In 1923 he went to the United States and after holding various engineering posts was appointed to the U. S. Navy Department. In 1943 Mr. Ross was transferred to Long Beach, California, to help organize the new naval shipyard and to take charge of the Hull Design Section. He retired from the Navy in 1962. During this entire period he worked for the Theosophical Society. His articles and book review appeared regularly in Theosophical journals. He also traveled widely for the Society, lecturing in England, India, Australia, New Zealand, and the United States.
